Pointing Model
Instructions for executing a pointing model for NTT
are described
here,
while the full monitoring of POM is
here.
It is recommended, when possible (i.e. time), to execute a full model, with 64 stars.
Once you have a satisfactory fits, follow these steps:
- Current pointing values should be under /vltdata/config as pomNA.dat, pomNB.dat.
before you do new measurements, go to /vltdata/config on wt5tcs and rename the file
pomNB.dat (or pomNA.dat for Nasmyth A) to pomN.dat-yyyy-mm-dd
- All the old models and the newly created one, which will be something named
yyyy-mm-dd.model.dat, are on the /vltdata/pointing directory on wt5tcs.
Install the new model: the newly created file will be pomNB.dat (or pomNA.dat for
Nasmyth A).
- check the accuracy of the pointing by presetting to different stars on the sky
and measure their position on the guideproble with respect to the center field. If time allows
it, do the same with the instruments (EMMI/SOFI).
History data backup can be found on epu (till 2006-08-03, i.e. measures done by
Javier Argomedo on his last visit), at the directories:
