Grism Setup
Grisms are mounted on a wheel offering 9 positions, one being always free.
Positions 1 to 5 are used for low dispersion spectroscopy (RILD).
Positions 6 and 7 are used for cross-dispersion in Echelle mode.
Focus wedge is mounted permanently in position 8 and should never be removed.
To install a grism :
- Press EMMI emergency stop button at the center of EMMI cover.
- Remove the black side cover of EMMI red very carefullly to avoid
to damage the grism motor.
- From the EMMI configuration panel, select grism pos and click "move
to load".
- Remove the grim which occupies the position and install it in an other
free position or into a grism box.
- Install the requested grism in position
- From EMMI configuration panel, select grism pos , select grism
name
and click enter grism.
- Click Backup under File submenu.
- When all requested grisms are installed , put back the side cover very
carefully.
- Check that pinhole is mounted in Starplate wheel.
- Release the emergency stop button.
- Align grisms newly installed in positions 1 to 5 , running template RILD_spec_tec_GrisAlign
for each of them.
( In cross dispersing positions 6 and 7 , alignment doesn't make sense).
- Check that EMMI configuration panel is modified accordingly.
- Click Backup under File submenu.
- Run RILD_img_tec_FocWdgAlign.
