EFOSC2 Technical / Calibration plan nights
Every suitable night...
Photometric nights
- Photometric standards (UBVRi - OBs mostly ready)
To Do List
Photometric nights
- SpecPhot stds for all grisms to remeasure efficiencies
(on really good nights). All grisms still TBD in excellent conditions.
VPHGs most important.
- SpecPhot stds with off-centre 5" slits to measure efficiencies
All grisms still TBD. VPHGs most important.
Dark nights
- Polarimetric imaging - standards (polarised and unpolarised stars), follow
at many telescope pointings in BVRi.
- Fringe maps? See
fringing page
to see what needs done.
Others
- Further investigation of the link between temperatures, pointing, adaptor movement and focus.
- Specphot stds with and without order sorting filters to find best way to
remove 2nd order. See report
- Photometric standards - complete OBs. Find best pointings for each field to
maximise number of stars in field, find suitable exposure times.
SA92 - SA98 range still to be done (RA ~ 1 - 7 hrs)
- Image quality - test IQ with fans on adaptor to try and stabilise adaptor
temperature. Pay attention to temperature change during offsets.
Planned for 17 Nov 2008
- Southern standards - if windy but clear, can find suitable pointings etc for
OBs for the -50 Dec Landolt Standards (Landolt, 2007, AJ 133, 2502)
- If nothing else, there is always the
