CREATING INSTALLATION DISKS FOR FLOPPY INSTALLATION For installation on a PC that does not have a CD-ROM drive, the FlukeView Setup program offers you the possibility to create a set of installation disks on a separate PC that has a CD-ROM drive available. Run SETUP.EXE from the CD-ROM and select "Create installation disks" during setup. Alternatively, you can copy the contents of the disk1, disk2, etc. directory to floppy disks. After creating floppy disks, run SETUP.EXE from disk1. ____________________________________________________________ 4. INSTALLING ON WINDOWS NT 4.0/2000 FlukeView requires Service Pack 3 or later being installed on your NT 4.0 system. If you have not installed Service Pack 3 or later, Setup will not be able to finish the installation successfully. If so, contact your system administrator to install service pack 3 or later. Installation on Windows NT 4.0/2000 might require Administrator rights to successfully update your system. If so, Setup is terminated, and you are prompted to logon as Administrator, and run Setup.exe again. ____________________________________________________________ 5. USING QREPORT TEMPLATES The QReport templates are written using VBA of Microsoft Office 97. Depending on the Macro Virus Protection level settings in Word you can receive warning messages or the template will not function at all. Contact your system administrator to reduce the Macro Virus Protection level in Word if you are using the templates. ____________________________________________________________ 6. KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH FLUKEVIEW Please note the following problems you may encounter when using FlukeView for Windows: a. When a mouse is connected to a COM Port with the same interrupt level as the COM port to which the Power Quality Analyzer is connected, the connection to the Power Quality Analyzer may fail. This can occur when COM1 and COM3 (or COM2 and COM4) are used, for example. Connect the mouse or the Power Quality Analyzer to another COM Port or change the interrupt level of a port (refer to the documentation of the PC or serial interface card). b. During communication with the Power Quality Analyzer, when you move the mouse over the border of a window or over the stop button, the following error may occur: "Communication error: Overrun error detected." Tip Select the standard VGA display from the Windows Setup to overcome this problem. c. When the mouse is positioned above a button on the toolbar, the statusbar displays a text that describes the button. If the mouse is quickly moved away, the text may not disappear. d. When resizing a window results in large text characters, disable the Windows setting "True Type Fonts Only". Start the Control Panel program and select Fonts, View-Options, True Type and disable "Show only True Type fonts in the programs on my computer". e. When the Windows 98/Me/NT/2000 Display Property "Show window contents while dragging" is enabled, FlukeView will only show interim updates while dragging Instrument Screen Windows. f. If the print key on the instrument is pressed when using FlukeView, the message "Power Quality Analyzer has been turned off. Do you want to reconnect?" is shown. Tip Wait until the instrument has finished printing, and select Yes to reconnect. ____________________________________________________________ 7.
