SUSI2 Filter Notes

Note the very high peak transmission of these filters (up to twice that of similar filters in EMMI).

You can mount up to 6 filters at a time in the filter wheel. Please submit a Susi Setup Form to your support astronomer at least 1 day before your run begins, indicating which filters you would like mounted

Because of their extremely high costs, we do not plan to purchase any additional filters. If you need to use filters that are not currently available, please email (ls-susi) with the request and a scientific justification. However, be aware that it is unlikely that we have funds to acquire the filters.

User Supplied Filters filters can be mounted in SuSI2 upon request (and with plenty of advance notice). However, the filters must meet the following specifications:
- Diameter < =100mm
- Thickness < 10mm
Filters with a diameter < 100mm must be mounted in an adaptor. We have adaptors for some standard diameters, and we can manufacture adaptors for other diameters. It is critical to organize this several months in advance. Be warned that it is very likely that user supplied filters will have a different optical thickness than the standard filters, causing a focus offset that will have to be measured during the first night of observations. This will cause some additional overhead during the observing run.
