EMMI Optical Components

EMMI supports five possible light paths each traversing different optical components. The following components exist (in parenthesis the modes in which they are used)

Mirror wheel (all modes)
Long-slit unit (REMD, BLMD, DIMD)
Slit-view camera (REMD, BLMD, DIMD)
Prism wheel (REMD, BLMD, DIMD)
two below-slit filter wheels (one in REMD, the other in BLMD)
A red and a blue grating unit (REMD, BLMD, DIMD)
Stray light mask (REMD)
A grism wheel and two filter wheels (all modes)
A star-plate wheel (RILD)

An overview of where these components are located inside EMMI and how the possible light paths interact with them is given below.

For each of the five light paths, the total efficiency of the EMMI optics (excluding grisms, gratings, filters and CCD) is shown below, and is also available as a postscript figure.
