It will be remote controlled by a Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) extended up to 30 meters away. Then we need to prepare the Old NTT control room for telescope and camera control. 1.- They need three flat screens for the data taking winXp PC and the reduction Linux Station 2.- Three network points for two laptops and the data reduction Linux Station. I guest dhcp server is ok, if not IPs address have to be assigned. 3.- ~ 5 NL2 liters by day for camera refilling 4.- To operate Telescope, Adaptor, Auto guider and Image Analysis two Linux box PCs with two screens each have to be available in the building room + the Operation PC. May we can just move the ones in use at the RITZ for this special run. Of course, another three network points. 5.- As this room is empty for the moment I'll take 4 tables of 1.5x0.5m from ours Offices (Paul and me) + the 2 user tables from the old 360 control room. Chairs will be taken from any where !! No I found some in the 360 FEM lab. I'll check it with Agustin. 6.- As Night operation will be cold, some heaters are needed. Action Log : 4/5/2006 7:29:57 PM ebarrios EFOSC2 IOT REQUEST: On behalf of IVO here with the reason why the HgCdZnAr lamp has to be added to the current set.. "------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- Dear all, here's some output of our tests with the "new" EFOSC2 lamp. The 1st attachment shows a comparison of an arc taken with grism 7 and slit 1" and the usual HeAr lamp (blue line) and an arc taken with the new lamp (black line). The obvious difference is that there are two lines at ca. 3600 AA in the new lamp arc, which allow to better constrain the wavelength calibration in the bluest part of the spectrum. The 2nd attachment shows the arc of the new lamp with the Hg and Cd lines identified. The arc has been calibrated in wavelength using the solution provided by the old, HeAr, lamp. Using these lines, the 3rd attachment shows the difference between observed and true wavelength of the Cd and Hg lines. Obviously below 4000 AA the solution is bad at the level of 1.5 AA, i.e. more than 100 km/sec at these wavelengths. In conclusion, I would recommend to use this lamp for observations at the bluest spectral range ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------" Currently we are using four lamps, i.e. Quarz, He, Ne, Ar.
