This module implements a command (SEND) for sending any string directly to any of the two PREMA. In the command replay comes whatever PREMA had generated in response (that should be tested). Several ways for easing the configuration of PREMA are proposed: 1. Configuration can be done from the instrument workstation sending the proper SEND commands to haiprt. A shell script can be created with the commands to configure each PREMA, and another to check their configurations. The parameter values would be contained in the script, with enough comments to document them. Nevertheless, having configuration values in a script is not a desirable thing. 2. Similar to 1, but parameter values for both PREMA would be contained in the DB, and the configuration would be archived in a dbcfg file. A shell script or small application retrieves de values and generates the proper SEND commands for haiprt. Another script is used to check their configurations. A GUI application is desirable for editing the parameter values in the DB and generating the dbcfg file. 3. haiprt could be extended to have the responsibility of configuring both PREMA during the init stage. This solution involves more work, but is also the more "VLT-like". 4. There are other devices that need to be configured through a serial port beyond PREMA, some connected to LCUs, and other connected to workstations. It would be convenient to have a generic application for interacting with such devices. It would consist in an agent running in the LCU, a WS application communicating with the LCU agent (or controlling directly the serial communication from the WS), and a GUI. From the GUI it should be possible to set the communication configuration (device connected to WS or LCU, which LCU environment, which port or device, etc).
