Action : Insulate dewar. Troubleshoot the problem. Action Log : 1/9/03 2:17:18 PM gandreon Free time to work on this CCD is required for this and the O ring change. 1/30/03 2:27:14 PM gandreon A insulating flange has to be prepared by mechanics. 2/20/03 2:00:44 PM gandreon Dewar is now insulated but fringes are still present. Under monitoring by E. Pompei. 2/27/03 2:05:06 PM gandreon Problem will be tackled after the dewar replacement. 3/27/03 2:53:13 PM gandreon Some improvements have been detected after intervention with ground connections. To be continued once the dewar is changed. 4/7/03 6:24:51 PM gandreon GIH: EPO informed that actually the situation is critical, because on top of the noisy behaviour it is unstable. An urgent action is required. 4/15/03 2:28:50 PM gandreon Interference source traced to camera and shutter control. They are being insulated to eliminate the interference. 5/6/03 3:55:13 PM gandreon This action proved to be counterproductive ad it will be reversed. 5/27/03 3:47:22 PM gandreon Noise level is now within specifications. 6/17/03 3:58:36 PM gandreon Still some instability. 6/24/03 2:59:04 PM gandreon A cable holder should be installed in order to stabilize the cable configuration and related pick-up noise. 7/15/03 2:42:56 PM gandreon Wolfgang with revise the device together with Juan Carlos and Peter. 7/22/03 4:50:30 PM gandreon Wolfgang will design something suitable to prevent cables movements when grating is changed. 8/3/03 4:58:23 PM apizarro A provisory mechanical support was designed by W. Eckert, to keep the cables in a fixed position after a grism or grating change. He is studding a definitive solution 8/19/03 3:10:19 PM gandreon A mounting device for the grating will be manufactured, and cables will be routed in such a way to avoid interference with its operations. Action : A second transfer line should be purchased to give enough time for pressurizing before switching between two dewars. Action Log : 11/21/02 2:55:49 PM gandreon Armin Silber is going to prepare it. 1/16/03 1:41:18 PM gandreon One transfer line has been ordered by LGO. 3/20/03 2:42:51 PM gandreon Lost somewhere. LGO is looking for it. 4/8/03 3:49:07 PM gandreon Transfer line found in Garching. 5/6/03 4:12:18 PM gandreon Msg from Coprosoft arrived today confirmed that the line transport is being processed in Garching. 5/20/03 3:46:23 PM gandreon Arriving tomorrow! 6/16/03 5:52:01 PM jpritcha NOT complete! According to Leo last week, he has the transfer line in his office, BUT it does NOT have a gauge. Therefore it must be modified and a gauge must be installed. Furthermore, since the gauge on the current transfer line is rather unreliable, I suggest that NEW gauges be bought for both the current transfer line AND the new one. Furthermore I suggest that these be of the SAME type as used by HARPS to evetually allow remote sensing. This will be better since it we will then have greater redundancy between the two instruments. 6/24/03 3:01:50 PM gandreon The transfer line has to be completed. However the additional modification (Harps like) has to be considered in the frame of the upgrade project. 7/1/03 2:47:27 PM gandreon Order for gauge placed today. 7/24/03 9:36:28 AM apizarro L.Gonzalez is purchasing the LN2 level gauge to be installed to the new transfer system. By illuminating the screen from two vantage points 180 degrees away from the center the screen the quality of the flats would improve considerably. Also, changing the intensity of the lamp by changing the voltage induces a change of the temperature of the fillament. The type of lamps for flat screens are selected due to their high temperature, so the procedure to change intensity should not be the change of voltage. SO WE PROPOSE: In the process of automatizing the control of the lamps, which is becomning urgent, that the set up be changed: - light from two banks of lights separated by 180 degrees from the center of the screen - the banks of lamps should consist of several lower intensity, but still high temperature lamps. - the total intensity at the screen should be set by choosing a different total number of lamps, but always chosen in pairs. Action Log : 8/19/03 3:17:48 PM gandreon This is a small project. It should also solve the missing VME problem once for all.
