This can be delivered in 2 steps, as discussed between NTT and SWC. Action Log : 11/2/00 11:40:17 AM jibsen SBA/JGU are currently studying the available documents and they will provide a deadline this turno. 11/9/00 3:15:54 PM gandreon According to a first evaluation three man-months of work are required. It cannot therefore be considered an action point anymore. User requirements should be formally forwarded asap to SWC team in view of a review. Also CFT is interest in this feature and it should therefore be included in the loop. 11/16/00 5:38:42 PM gandreon It seems that there has been a misunderstanding, and that the first two parts of this action could be delivered as early as December 15. To be confirmed by SBA. 12/8/00 5:31:36 PM sbaeza According to Javier Argomedo's Flat field Lamps Control software Design Description, the main developments stages are: stage 1 : add halogen lamps control to sofi stage 2 : general purpose flat field lamps (16 lamps on/off) stage 3 : general purpose continuous flat field lamps Stages 1 and 2 will be ready by January 13, 2001. Stage 3 will be ready by March 15, 2001. 1/4/01 3:13:36 PM gandreon Stage 1 completed. To be tested starting in the morning of January 6. 1/11/01 2:42:29 PM gandreon Test to be done on January 22nd. Delivery of stage 3 foreseen for January 25th. 1/13/01 12:31:48 PM sbaeza First of all i want to clarify the delivery date of the stage 3. According with action log of 08/12/2000 the stage 3 will be delivery on March 15 2001.. What happened with this date??? Current status of the development: ---------------------------------- stage 1: Implementation done. Online test pending to be performed on January 22nd 2001. This date was adopted because during the previous technical time (06/01 - 09/01) was a little bit risky to do it due SOFI started after that. stage 2: Implementation done. Offline test performed and some minor changes of the panel are pending. Online test will be performed by J.Guzman with the help and knowledge of NTT team during the following week. Deadline of January 22nd is not compromised. stage 3: Nothing are implemented yet. 1/24/01 3:00:16 PM sbaeza Stage 1 and 2: On-line test performed on January 19-20nd 2001. Sofi Flat field halogen lamps accepted by NTT (stage 1). General purpose flat field lamps need a last test to be accepted by the NTT team (stage 2). Stage 3: Under development. delivery for March 15 2001. 3/8/01 10:52:31 AM sbaeza stage 3: development and offline test is ready. test and commissioning on target machine will be during NTT tech. time, March 20-21 2001. 3/16/01 9:56:39 AM gihle Software is ready and it will require testing. It was agreed a new deadline for the 20th of March 3/22/01 3:13:34 PM sbaeza On/Off lamps tested on target machine during tech. time (20-21 March). It assumes that the CCD is linear in the first order and then it calculates the shutter delay as the value that will produce the "most" linear behaviour of the CCD. Then the nonlinearity is defined as the second order deviations from that "flat" response. In most cases the method works fine, but it is not perfectly accurate and it is influenced by the CCD output response. That is the reason why the same shutter shows different delays on each of the 2 CCDs in SUSI2. However, the differences are in the order of few 10s of milliseconds. I would say that those delays are not accurate if below 0.05 second, and I would not expect that differences of 0.01 second or less have any real meaning. In conclusion, I would just reject this Action Point as there is nothing we can do... If a more accurate measuring of the shutter delay is required, the Team can do that by using the traditional method of comparing 10 multiple exposures of 1 second against one 10 seconds exposure using a beta light, so please set this Action as rejected. I would do it myself if Remedy woudl allow me.... :-( 11/23/00 3:23:12 PM gandreon To be clarified between PLS and PSI. 12/21/00 3:38:44 PM gandreon OHA clarified to PSI that not the shutter performance, but its measurement is under scrutiny 2/1/01 2:57:20 PM gandreon PSI will look into the matter. New deadline. 3/16/01 9:57:53 AM gihle PSI found the problem and now the solution is expected 3/23/01 5:17:02 PM psinclai The problem was found as being the range limits given to the Midas script that calculates the shutter delay. The limits were set for all systems to be 0 sec up to 2 sec for any shutter delay, assuming we would never found a negative "delay". The Susi shutter, being the only one of its type (curtains) does show a negative delay implying that opening time may be slightly faster than closing time, in the end giving less exposure time than requested. In any case, I have already discussed this with Paul LeSaux in order that he updates these limits to include a negative range, like -0.5 sec on the lower side to be able to measure more accurately this delay (which I measured to be in the order of -0.1s). The value "found" by the script up to now of -0.01s, is the real lower limit when setting it to 0s as the script always backs up 0.01s when it finds a good result and then it searches with a finer step between this value and +0.1s of this value. I would suggest this point is closed by Paul as soon as he updates the NTT Midas scripts. 4/2/01 4:20:34 PM plesaux changing shutterLOW from 0.0 to -0.1 in ccd_standard_test.prg solved the problem and put back shutter delay curve within its frame in SUSI CCD web pages.(PL) can be closed Responsible : Instrumentation Support Team Status : Closed Deadline : 2/18/01 12:00:00 AM Deadline Status : Closed with Delay ________________________________________________________________________________ Telescope : ESO NTT Create-date : 12/21/00 6:36:55 AM Problem Short Description : Remove main internal NTT router Action : The current internal NTT router limits the communications between the subnets to 10Mb/s.
