This can be delivered in 2 steps, as discussed between NTT and SWC. Action Log : 11/2/00 10:40:17 AM jibsen SBA/JGU are currently studying the available documents and they will provide a deadline this turno. 11/9/00 2:15:54 PM gandreon According to a first evaluation three man-months of work are required. Also CFT is interest in this feature and it should therefore be included in the loop. 11/16/00 4:38:42 PM gandreon It seems that there has been a misunderstanding, and that the first two parts of this action could be delivered as early as December 15. To be confirmed by SBA. 12/8/00 4:31:36 PM sbaeza According to Javier Argomedo's Flat field Lamps Control software Design Description, the main developments stages are: stage 1 : add halogen lamps control to sofi stage 2 : general purpose flat field lamps (16 lamps on/off) stage 3 : general purpose continuous flat field lamps Stages 1 and 2 will be ready by January 13, 2001. Stage 3 will be ready by March 15, 2001. 1/4/01 2:13:36 PM gandreon Stage 1 completed. To be tested starting in the morning of January 6. 1/11/01 1:42:29 PM gandreon Test to be done on January 22nd. According with action log of 08/12/2000 the stage 3 will be delivery on March 15 2001.. What happened with this date??? Current status of the development: ---------------------------------- stage 1: Implementation done. Online test pending to be performed on January 22nd 2001. This date was adopted because during the previous technical time (06/01 - 09/01) was a little bit risky to do it due SOFI started after that. stage 2: Implementation done. Offline test performed and some minor changes of the panel are pending. Online test will be performed by J.Guzman with the help and knowledge of NTT team during the following week. Deadline of January 22nd is not compromised. stage 3: Nothing are implemented yet. 1/24/01 2:00:16 PM sbaeza Stage 1 and 2: On-line test performed on January 19-20nd 2001. Sofi Flat field halogen lamps accepted by NTT (stage 1). General purpose flat field lamps need a last test to be accepted by the NTT team (stage 2). It assumes that the CCD is linear in the first order and then it calculates the shutter delay as the value that will produce the "most" linear behaviour of the CCD. Then the nonlinearity is defined as the second order deviations from that "flat" response. In most cases the method works fine, but it is not perfectly accurate and it is influenced by the CCD output response. That is the reason why the same shutter shows different delays on each of the 2 CCDs in SUSI2. However, the differences are in the order of few 10s of milliseconds. I would say that those delays are not accurate if below 0.05 second, and I would not expect that differences of 0.01 second or less have any real meaning. In conclusion, I would just reject this Action Point as there is nothing we can do... If a more accurate measuring of the shutter delay is required, the Team can do that by using the traditional method of comparing 10 multiple exposures of 1 second against one 10 seconds exposure using a beta light, so please set this Action as rejected. I would do it myself if Remedy woudl allow me.... :-( 11/23/00 2:23:12 PM gandreon To be clarified between PLS and PSI. 12/21/00 2:38:44 PM gandreon OHA clarified to PSI that not the shutter performance, but its measurement is under scrutiny Responsible : Instrumentation Support Team Status : Assigned Deadline : 12/13/00 10:00:00 PM Deadline Status : Pending ________________________________________________________________________________ Telescope : ESO NTT Create-date : 11/23/00 12:03:16 AM Problem Short Description : Focus correction in function of temperature Action : There should be an option to adjust the M2 focus of the NTT in function of the telescope temperature changes. Action : The problem should be analyzed and a solution should be devised. Action Log : 7/6/00 4:12:03 PM gandreon A report is expected. Deadline will be assigned after a meeting with DGO to be called by Stephane Brillant. 8/24/00 3:13:41 PM gandreon Deadline moved because Stefane needs time to evaluate the consequences of changes done on the system. 9/14/00 3:34:21 PM gandreon Currently it seems to work fine at NTT, except for the stand-by button (S/W "feature"). New test will be carried out these days with the next VLT release. 9/28/00 4:06:06 PM gandreon With the new VLT release there are still problems with stand-by button. To be further investigated by Guzman. 10/12/00 4:21:55 PM gandreon Tests went ok at 360. Further tests still needed at NTT. 10/19/00 2:17:27 PM gandreon New verion is not working. It needs adaptations. New deadline. 11/17/00 9:51:25 AM jguzman OK gays... This is the history/report/status of MOS after the upgrade on both Telescopes: NTT --- After the upgrade on October i installed the new version of MOS package (emipun 2.3). This version is unique and share with the 3.60 MOS. After test the system worked fine (online operation), but when it goes to stand-by mode the lock-pin remains in a "weird" status. The current workaround by the NTT team is when they need MOS, they put it in ONLINE state and leave it there. Since this is not a major problem, i suggest to leave it there unless the NTT team thinks different. 3.60 ---- After the upgrade on October i installed the newer version of emipun module 2.3, but i forgot to recompile the database of the MOS LCU after the last regeneration. This cause the problem before the first run of the MOS. During the failure i suggest to return to the old 3.60 MOS version (1.15.1.2) which are now currently running. I spoke with Michael about this suggesting him a SW regeneration when EFOSC2 was off-line, but he suggest to do it during some technical time. Now i need to know if the situation when goes from ONLINE to STANDBY state needs to be solved or stays there. 11/26/00 8:36:35 AM jibsen It seems to me that no further action will be done from our side until next 3.6m technical time. I sugest either change the deadline to such a date or to close the point and to reopen it by that time. 11/26/00 8:38:50 AM jibsen BTW, just to clarify things, I am no gay :^) 11/30/00 2:10:11 PM gandreon It could be done during next Adonis run. Waiting for permission from Michael. 12/6/00 3:30:35 PM jguzman I suggest to do the off-line regeneration of EFOSC/MOS + verification test during January Adonis run, because i will be on the mountain during that run. (12/01/2000). It needs to be coordinated with 3.60m Team. 12/7/00 2:05:40 PM gandreon Deadline changed accordingly. 12/21/00 2:51:56 PM gandreon The work-around used at NTT is not acceptable as a final solution. At some time system functionalities have to be restored as they were two releases ago. 1/13/01 10:47:38 AM jguzman First of all, sorry... guys!! :-). This is the status/actions about this point: 3.60m ----- I spoke with E.Barrios about the regeneration of EFOSC2 software and we agree of posponed the regeneration of the software for february during the CES run, because some of the templates modules have been updated too, and also there will be some alignment correction on one MOS head punch. Also, we agree to posponed the regeneration to be able to have more manpower available for test of the EFOSC/MOS software and this will happen during february and march. NTT --- I need more input from NTT team about, specially about the "system functionalities have to be restored". Major changes on the emipun module (base module of MOS function) is not an easy task, so i suggest the NTT team send me an e-mail or have a meeting to discuss what are the problems and evaluate the severity of them. After that we need to evaluate the solutions. After the NTT upgrade the NTT team agree with the status of the MOS, so i'm surprised that this point still open. So i suggest to quick send me, at last, a detail problem list of MOS so i can reply quickly with time estimation of the posible solutions. We need to close this point soon!! 1/25/01 3:29:08 PM gandreon New date to be provided by CFT. Responsible : Software&Commun.Supp.T.
