Action : An SPR should be submitted (possibly by B. Leibendgut). Action Log : October 29, 2000 3:37:31 PM tpaz A template was tested at the NTT with P.Leisy. This template presets the telescope, takes an exposition, offsets the telescope and takes another exposition. The current coordinates of the telescope were logged correctly into the Fits header before and after the offset. No fundaments to submit an SPR. October 31, 2000 3:29:39 PM tpaz Another test made with P.Leisy at the NTT. Current coordinates were logged. No SPR is needed. November 02, 2000 9:33:11 AM jibsen According to TPA, this was tested by her and P. Leisy when investigating the exact SPR to be sent. They found out that the correct coordinates appear in the FITS headers (telescope actual position at the beggining of the exposure). Conclusion: NO SPR is required and then the point can be closed. Please find below TPA's report. It assumes that the CCD is linear in the first order and then it calculates the shutter delay as the value that will produce the "most" linear behaviour of the CCD. Then the nonlinearity is defined as the second order deviations from that "flat" response. In most cases the method works fine, but it is not perfectly accurate and it is influenced by the CCD output response. That is the reason why the same shutter shows different delays on each of the 2 CCDs in SUSI2. However, the differences are in the order of few 10s of milliseconds. I would say that those delays are not accurate if below 0.05 second, and I would not expect that differences of 0.01 second or less have any real meaning. In conclusion, I would just reject this Action Point as there is nothing we can do... If a more accurate measuring of the shutter delay is required, the Team can do that by using the traditional method of comparing 10 multiple exposures of 1 second against one 10 seconds exposure using a beta light, so please set this Action as rejected. I would do it myself if Remedy woudl allow me.... :-( November 23, 2000 1:23:12 PM gandreon To be clarified between PLS and PSI. Action : Search for a suitable lamp which could be replaced without any changec to the calibration unit. If result if positive, place the order. Action Log : Responsible : Mechanics Support Team Deadline : January 14, 2001 9:00:00 PM Deadline Status : Pending ________________________________________________________________________________ Telescope : GENERAL Create-date : June 22, 2000 4:01:08 PM Problem Short Description : Problems in MOS control system are thought to be coming from sofware. Action : The problem should be analyzed and a solution should be devised. Action Log : July 06, 2000 4:12:03 PM gandreon A report is expected. Deadline will be assigned after a meeting with DGO to be called by Stephane Brillant. August 24, 2000 3:13:41 PM gandreon Deadline moved because Stefane needs time to evaluate the consequences of changes done on the system. September 14, 2000 3:34:21 PM gandreon Currently it seems to work fine at NTT, except for the stand-by button (S/W "feature"). New test will be carried out these days with the next VLT release. September 28, 2000 4:06:06 PM gandreon With the new VLT release there are still problems with stand-by button. To be further investigated by Guzman. October 12, 2000 4:21:55 PM gandreon Tests went ok at 360. Further tests still needed at NTT. October 19, 2000 2:17:27 PM gandreon New verion is not working. It needs adaptations. New deadline. November 17, 2000 8:51:25 AM jguzman OK gays... This is the history/report/status of MOS after the upgrade on both Telescopes: NTT --- After the upgrade on October i installed the new version of MOS package (emipun 2.3). This version is unique and share with the 3.60 MOS. After test the system worked fine (online operation), but when it goes to stand-by mode the lock-pin remains in a "weird" status. The current workaround by the NTT team is when they need MOS, they put it in ONLINE state and leave it there. Since this is not a major problem, i suggest to leave it there unless the NTT team thinks different. 3.60 ---- After the upgrade on October i installed the newer version of emipun module 2.3, but i forgot to recompile the database of the MOS LCU after the last regeneration. This cause the problem before the first run of the MOS. During the failure i suggest to return to the old 3.60 MOS version (1.15.1.2) which are now currently running. I spoke with Michael about this suggesting him a SW regeneration when EFOSC2 was off-line, but he suggest to do it during some technical time. Now i need to know if the situation when goes from ONLINE to STANDBY state needs to be solved or stays there. November 26, 2000 7:36:35 AM jibsen It seems to me that no further action will be done from our side until next 3.6m technical time. I sugest either change the deadline to such a date or to close the point and to reopen it by that time. November 26, 2000 7:38:50 AM jibsen BTW, just to clarify things, I am no gay :^) November 30, 2000 1:10:11 PM gandreon It could be done during next Adonis run. Waiting for permission from Michael. December 06, 2000 2:30:35 PM jguzman I suggest to do the off-line regeneration of EFOSC/MOS + verification test during January Adonis run, because i will be on the mountain during that run. (12/01/2000). It needs to be coordinated with 3.60m Team. December 07, 2000 1:05:40 PM gandreon Deadline changed accordingly. December 21, 2000 1:51:56 PM gandreon The work-around used at NTT is not acceptable as a final solution. At some time system functionalities have to be restored as they were two releases ago. Deadline : January 17, 2001 9:00:00 PM Deadline Status : Pending ________________________________________________________________________________ Telescope : GENERAL Create-date : July 13, 2000 3:24:31 PM Problem Short Description : Vertex antenna malfunctions during snow storm. Action : In order to speed up the recovery after a snow storm, the following actions should be carried out: - a hole should be drilled in order to evacuate water accumulating in the lower part. - some sort of painting similar to the one used for the 1 m dome should be applied to its back, to improve termic insulation. Action Log : September 07, 2000 3:16:31 PM gandreon Hole has been done. PR for insulation ready for FGU signature. September 14, 2000 3:36:31 PM gandreon Flavio would prefer a fire resistant product. Waiting for investigation. October 06, 2000 2:09:44 PM gihle Part 1 of the TAP can be closed. Part 2 remains unclear. November 02, 2000 1:31:57 PM gandreon Work to be completed according to mail from F Gutierrez. New deadline.
