But this is a fixed mirror only adjustable by micrometer screws. It is used to steer the beam into Adonis and align the instrument's pupils onto the telescope exit pupil. If the star is lost out of the subapertures due to some mechanical movement (flexure etc.) of this unit, then the pupils should be misaligned too, producing vignetting and a chain of consequen- ces on image correction which haven't been reported. The question is: Can M1 move say, 3Arcsec (which could get the star image out of the WFS field diaphragm) yet produce a negligible pupil misalignment not detectable in operation?...maybe, but this is another test. Conclusion: The Reference and White light sources' WFS spot images are stable to better than 1pixel under power cycling of Adonis. June 22, 2000 8:32:42 AM gihle The problem is related to the motor that activates the slit and the the actual rubber seal. As the slit is closed, the seal acts as a spring and force the slit to open. This can not be prevent by the motor that has no braking system. We are looking for a motor with brake that can be changed with the actual one.
