The first problem usually manifests itself in just one random sensor value permanently pegged at a high level, and seems to be caused by latchup of an operational amplifier, apparently by transients from the oil system switchon. This latchup can be cleared by power-cycling the VME rack. The other problem manifests itself in individual sensors reading wrong values at random times, without any clear reproducible pattern. This problem seems to be related to the accessing of the A/D card multiplexer. We are trying different ways to do the multiplexer access, in order to find one that's not susceptible to this problem. In laboratory tests it has not been possible to reproduce any of these problems, even after 328000 conversions, so the problem is clearly related to something specific to the telescope.
